• NEW Outlet Opening, December 21
  On Tuesday, December 21, 2010, a larger, new and improved Goodwill outlet store will open at 6505 Burleson. This new site will allow our customers to shop more conveniently and community members to donate more easily. The funds generated from our retail stores translate into job training, and search assistance, case management and youth service programs. Please join us at our new location! Please keep in mind that the North Outlet store will be closing on December 18 at 4:30 pm and the South Outlet store will be closing on December 19 at 6:00 pm.

  The Paramount Theatre

  The City of Austin and the Consulate General of China (Houston) present Treasures of the Yunnan Province, Folk Song & Dance Ensemble of the People’s Republic of China, a joint cultural exchange & celebration of friendship, showcasing folk singers, dancers, musicians, and acrobats from Yunnan Province, home to Austin’s sister-city Xishuangbanna. Special finale performance with Austin’s own Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel!

• Goodwill Resource Center Now Open
  Coming beginning of February, the Goodwill Resource Center in south Austin will open its doors. This new site will allow for a larger outlet center and allow community members to donate more easily. The new site will also house a Job Help Center, recycling program and transportation facilities. The funds generated from our retail stores translate into job training, and search assistance, case manaement and youth service programs.

March / April

• Sixteenth Annual Hall of Honor Banquet, March 3
  This year Goodwill is proud to hold its 16th annual Hall of Honor. This event is a way to celebrate the achievements of people who overcame their barriers to employment, with assistance through Goodwill’s employment services. Whether through a physical disability, medical condition, learning challenge, language barrier or lack of work experience, Goodwill’s clients face employment barriers others do not. However, through the support of Goodwill’s job services and dedicated Program and Case Managers, these honorees excel beyond expectations, exemplifying Goodwill’s mission and values.



• The Good Give, March 5-April 17
  The Good Give is an opportunity to support your community through an in-store fundraising campaign (March 5-April 17) and a community donation drive (April 14-17).



• Coming Soon! Fredericksburg Grand Opening Celebration, April 16
  On Saturday, April 16, the Goodwill retail store in Fredericksburg will open its doors, and we are inviting the community to celebrate with food, activities, prizes and entertainment for the whole family.

May / june

• Community Career Expo, June 23
  The Community Career Expo is Austin’s most fully-inclusive job fair of the year. Thanks to a partnership between Goodwill Industries of Central Texas and the Austin Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities (AMCPD) this fair helps to create a connection between employers and persons with disabilities. In its twelfth year, this Expo offers assistance to job seekers through special services provided by Spanish translators, sign language interpreters, and guides. This free job fair is open to the public and will offer job seekers access to professional resources and classes to give them a leg-up on their job search. This year’s event will be held at the Goodwill Community Center.

July / August

• Did You Know? Goodwill is opening a cozy little clothing store in Rollingwood! July 15
  On Friday July 15th, Goodwill will celebrate the opening of our new Westbank store at 2814 Bee Cave Road in Austin. Stop in to see a new side of Goodwill with our boutique selections. As a special thank you, the first 100 customers will receive a free gift. Hope to see you there!



• Brand U, July 29 -August 21
  Goodwill’s Brand U shopping campaign sends the message to the community, “it’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it.” Shoppers can register at Goodwill retail stores for a chance to win a complete makeover, including a $100 Goodwill shopping spree with a personal shopper, haircut, style, coloring, eyebrow waxing and shaping, a before and after photo shoot, and the opportunity to be a model in Goodwill’s next ‘Brand U’ shopping ads.

• Working for Youth, September 24-October 31
  

  When we work together to build a strong community we are Working for Youth.

  Put your dollars to work creating opportunities for the youth of Austin. When you shop Goodwill from Sept 24th thru Nov 6th, donate to Working For Youth and your dollars will:

  • Keep at-risk youth in school
  • Provide Austin youth with opportunities for real-life work experience
  • Teach kids to find jobs, keep employment and develop a life-long attachment to work
  • Create mentoring programs that keep kids on track and out of trouble

• Ghoulwill Ball, October 28
  The Ghoulwill Ball is Austin's premiere Halloween costume party. This event will be resurrected at the W Hotel on Friday, October 28 from 7:30PM-11:30PM. It's gruesome fun for a good cause, with proceeds benefitting Goodwill's job-related programs and services that help Central Texans find jobs in our community. Dress to impress our celebrity judges and you could go home the winner of our costume contest. Fabulous auction items will be available for your bidding pleasure and great entertainment will get your pulse pumping. Sponsorship opportunities are available for this ghoulishly-fabulous fundraiser.
